Do you host my website?
All Cornwall Website Design client websites are hosted with our affiliate company Web Hosting Canada. Backups of the website are kept on a company hard drive.

Each new website design is unique and the cost needs to be evaluated individually. A webmaster will evaluated the time required to complete the project and the cost of professional WordPress plugins and page builders. Extra costs are yearly license fees and domain name renewals.

Most websites function very well on a shared server platform but some require the power of a cloud server and even a dedicated web server.

Are website backups necessary?
It is true that web hosting companies do backup websites. A few years back hackers held thousands of websites hostage in exchange for money. Having a backup stored in a safe place is key to protecting your website.

Why do we have to pay for WordPress plugins?
There are some great free website plugins and some do require a one time purchase or a yearly license fee. The benefit is that each web developer of the plugins is responsible for maintaining the plugins as a security, functionality or improvement update.

Anywhere from one week to a few months depending on the size of the project. A simple business card type website would take less time than a website that contains a few Content Management Systems.

To save our clients money we don't act as a middle man. We prefer to setup our client's directly with the web hosting company. We don't want to be one of those companies that trap our clients to use our services and prefer our clients choose our services.

How long is the lifecycle of a website?
Approximately 5 years. Internet programming languages and tools evolve very fast. The website may be stable and very solid yet the look of the website will start to look outdated.

Some website pages like an internet or intranet interface for a help desk would require a highly optimized website as response speed is important. A sales website would have more visual effects and media files slowing down the end result but making the user experience more interesting. It really depends on the type of website being developed.
